buzy day in Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers had a buzy day yesterday. It started with a 7-7 tie against the St. Louis Blues. The Oilers were down 6-3 at the beginning of the 3rd period but got back in the game and even leaded 7-6 with a minute and a half left. St. Jacques got a hat trick in that game and it was nice to see some goals on the board for the Oilers. On the other side, the numerous injuries at the blue line seemed to be a factor in the game and lately since the Oilers is allowing more shots against. The Oilers have a well deserve day off today and the injured players will come in the clinic to get some treatment. The plane will leave at the end of the afternoon for St. Louis for tomorrow's game.
After the game GM Joyal announced 2 trades. The first one with St. Louis. Bergman is becoming an Oilers. Joyal sent a 4th pick in Y23 draft. Right after Joyal agreed with Chicago for a trade that brings back Paul Elliott to Edmonton alongside young keeper James Walsh. Going to Chicago is veteran Brian Ross and a 3rd pick in Y23 draft.
We are happy with both trades. Bergman will bring some depth in the line-up. He will play on the 3rd line with Pederson and Bernier tomorrow. He will likely see some ice time on the powerplay as well. Brady Murray will be scratched. We have some room on the cap so we did not take a big risk. Also, Elliott will be back with us. We are very happy. He will bring more to the table than Ross. He will also remove some pressure on Maclean and Kanervo. He is also younger than Ross. As for Walsh I had some talks with Chicago on him but we never came to a deal. We are very happy to see him coming and he will be playing tonight for Calgary. We see him and Irman as our future in net. We have some talks for Baltimore so we expect to move him shortly.
