Mason, Marchand moved, Danner scores first

Messagepar Montreal GM » 22 Fév 2016, 14:03

In a no surprise move, GM Arsenault shipped off Defenseman Hugo Marchand and Goalie Wes Mason to the St. Louis Blues for all-around young foward Tim Danner and the New Jersey Devils first round draft pick for this off season. Danner, 26, Scored his first goal as a Montreal Canadien as Jared Bradley won a defensive zone draw to Brett Draney who sprung Danner for a breakaway and tucked the puck past Boston's new Acquisition Jimmy Kilpatrick to take a 1-0 lead into the game just 39 seconds into the second period.

Tim Danner:
It's nice to get the first one just in my second game with them. It takes alot of pressure off my back and now I can focus on my game better and know that more will come eventually. I am still learning what my role is here, but so far, I am enjoying what this team stands for and their philosophies on the ice. I am honored that I can be a part of this future with the team.

Heading out to St Louis is Hugo Marchand who was a huge part of the Canadiens success last season and will be missed on the blue line as younger guys are coming up to try and fill the role. After the acquisition of Keanu Demro from Quebec last week, goalie Wes Mason, for the future, was expendable.

The last of players to make room for the youth movement in Montreal are names such as the team's leading scorer Brett Daney, Last season's team's leading scorer Aaron Molnar, and team's offensive and power play specialist defenseman Xavier Majic. You can believe that GM Arsenault will be pushing hard to move them before the trade deadline.
