Death Star Claims First Victim!

The Vancouver Sith opened the season at home in front of 17,000 plus raging fans hungry for pro hockey and the home club didn't disappoint. Defeating the Baltimore Thunder in dramatic fashion. Lightning struck at 54 seconds in he 4th frame when Stefan Albelin deposited his 2nd goal of the game to send the Thunder off the ice with a bitter defeat.

The Sith then went on the road to visit division rival Boston Bruins. Riding the confidence of an opening day victory the Sith laid the boots to Boston by wrecking them 7-2. 5 different goal scorers showed GM Edwards that the secondary scoring that wasn't present in pre-season is in fact alive and well. " We play these guys 10 times this year so we wanted to come into their building and show 'em we're here to win. This beat down is exactly what we wanted to see for our club. The offense coming from PP and 5 on 5 is a promising sign of different ways to score" boasted GM Edwards. The only bad news of the night was Stefan Albelin succumbing to a foot injury and was listed as out for 5 days.

Unfortunately the 2 game win streak ended in Winnipeg the next night against another Division rival. despite hot Daniel Hodge's 2 goal performance the hockey gods favoured the Jets this night. Vancouver let a 3rd period lead slip away via special teams, it was a short handed goal in the 17th minute of the 3rd period that proved to be the game winner. Coach Murray, "Our special teams need to be better, it was the difference tonight. We'll be paying special attention to these areas in tomorrows morning skate ahead of the game against the Bruins. We want consistency"

Day 5 has the Boston Bruins coming to the Death Star to try and capture some redemption, "I'm sure the 7-2 drubbing we handed them in front of their own fans is still an open wound, they'll come out with some fire but our plan is to rub some salt in that wound and send the bears limping home!" commented out spoken goalie Neil Ramsay.
