4 for 4 for Major?

With 8 games to play, Mark Major needs 9 points to reach the 100-point plateau for the 4th time in as many seasons. It has been a difficult season for the top Winnipeg player, struggling to be a regular point-getter for most of the first half of the season. His +/- rating took a dive, mostly because of the poor defensive tenure of Magnus Kahnberg, which has since been traded. Since then, Major has improved his defensive game, but his overall season outlook will be negative.

He might be looking good with 91 points in 71 games, which is good enough for the 10th spot in the points standings. But with 110+ points in the last 3 seasons, which was good enough for the Top-5, more can be expected from the first round pick. He missed a few games with a broken bone in his left foot. It was later revealed as a hairline fracture and he only missed 3 games and was ok to come back. At this point, we cannot say if he is playing at 100% of his capacities, but surely, the injury must still be bothering him a bit.

Needless to say, Major has been an offensive igniter this season. Overall, he is not having his best season, but at only 27, he still has many good years ahead of him.

Playoffs are coming soon, and if the Jets do take part in the great championship run, Major will need to be watched closely by the other teams. The 2-time Conn Smythe trophy winner as playoff MVP could take this team farther than anyone is currently expecting.
